COVER Corporation, the operator of hololive production, published an update on October 28, 2026 about its measures against infringement of the rights of the company and its affiliated talents. The company says the next update is planned for January 2027.

What was announced
According to the notice, COVER took legal action against an individual who had posted false personal information about affiliated talents and had claimed that it was legitimate. A court found that the posts infringed the talents’ rights. COVER then made a disclosure request, which identified the person responsible as a minor.
The matter was settled. Under the terms COVER describes, the person must delete the posts in question, provide a letter of apology and pay damages. The person must also pledge not to engage in defamatory or slanderous acts against COVER and its talents, and must pay a penalty under the agreement if the pledge is broken. The person’s legal guardian agreed to pay the damages and to supervise the person from now on. COVER says it will keep taking legal action against infringing conduct. The notice gives no monetary amounts, no number of posts and no other figures.
Conduct that COVER says may infringe rights
The notice lists several kinds of conduct. These include insulting or verbally abusing talents and spreading baseless information about them. They also include posting personal information or details of a talent’s private life, whether the information is true, rumoured or false. The third item is spreading or reposting infringing content that someone else posted. COVER states that the explanation “I only reposted it” will not be accepted as an excuse.
COVER’s related policies are linked from the notice, including its customer harassment policy and its secondary creation guidelines. The notice itself does not provide a dedicated reporting channel and points to the company’s general contact page.
Related notice on October 20
On October 20, COVER separately published a notice about a post that one of its talents had made on X on October 17. The company said her account had received sexually explicit images without her consent, called sending such images to an individual a form of harassment and said it would respond strictly, including by contacting the police and taking legal action. It also acknowledged that parts of the talent’s post lacked consideration for viewers and said it had agreed with her that she would choose her words more carefully. In that notice COVER asked the public not to slander or harass talents, to avoid hostile exchanges between people with differing views and to use the platform’s reporting tools or the company’s report form instead of replying to or reposting such posts. The company said it does not reply to individual reports.
What it means for overseas viewers
The notice applies to conduct directed at hololive talents on any platform, and the examples in it are not limited to posts in Japanese. Fans who run translation or clip accounts should note that reposting personal information is listed as potentially infringing even when someone else posted it first. COVER publishes these updates periodically; the previous one in the 2026 series appeared on July 23.
