Phase Connect
Phase Connect (also written Phase-Connect) is a virtual entertainment company headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. It describes itself as creating and delivering content through VTubers, with the stated aim of producing a new type of entertainment for global viewers and connecting people “through fun and laughter.” Unlike most agencies covered on this site, it was founded outside Japan, although it now also runs a Japanese-language branch.
At a glance
- Headquarters: Vancouver, Canada.
- Founder and CEO: Kevin “H2oSakana,” according to the official site.
- Tagline: “Widening the VTuber Rabbit Hole.”
- Japanese branch: Phase-Connect JP, announced January 7, 2024, with a first group (KALEiDO) debuting January 27, 2024 (per the Virtual YouTuber Wiki).
- Open auditions: the official site lists auditions as open.
History and structure
The Virtual YouTuber Wiki records the first talent auditions opening on January 31, 2021, and the first generation, Phase-01 OriginS, debuting on June 19–20, 2021. Later generations include Phase-02 ALiAS (July 9–10, 2022), Phase-03 Euphoria (December 17, 2023) and Phase-04 SAGA (October 25, 2025), plus Phase Invaders waves that debuted in April 2022, May 2023 and May 2025, and the Japanese Phase-JP KALEiDO group. A fan wiki is the source for these dates, so check the official schedule page before relying on a specific one.
In a June 2022 interview with Anime Corner, the CEO said the agency was initially assumed to be a scam because it was new and unproven. He also said he considers three to seven VTubers a good size for a generation, so that a debut group does not turn into a very large one.
Notable events
- Phase Wars I: a community competition event held December 19–23, 2021.
- AnimeNYC concert (August 25, 2024): described as the company’s first East Coast 3D concert.
- VTuber Awards (2024): performed the halftime show on December 14, 2024; the company is also listed as winning the Rising VTuber Org award in 2023.
- Phase Ablaze (September 6, 2025): a 3D concert at VeXpo 2025, listed as its first international 3D concert.
How talents join
The official auditions page says the agency is open to all applicants, with male talents not accepted at the moment, and that auditions are always open with no closing date; if they close, the company says it will announce this on Twitter at least a month in advance. No prior streaming experience or large following is required, and applicants may submit more than one application. The page lists the support on offer as character design with artists from around the world, character direction, content planning, help with stream assets and hardware where needed, ongoing model updates, and merchandise and marketing support. It adds that existing VTuber characters are usually not kept, although some applicants may be signed as a “Phase Invader.”
That Phase Invader route works differently from the numbered generations. Siliconera’s report on the May 2025 “Invaders Quest” wave describes Invaders as established indie VTubers who join under their existing identities; the three new members announced for May 3, 2025 were Clio Aite, Mari Mari and Eepy Sleepy, who debuted in a relay of streams that evening.
Concerts
Phase Connect has built a live-performance side alongside its streaming. An independent review published on July 12, 2026 covers three streamed concerts sold through SPWN: “Grand Passage,” “Fifth Orbit” (a celebration of the first generation’s fifth anniversary) and “Bon Voyage.” The reviewer says the shows included the 3D debuts of the first-generation Japanese members and the whole second generation, praised the affordable tickets, and noted two drawbacks: one performer’s solo was cut from the stream, likely for rights reasons, and buying three separate tickets meant paying three processing fees. Because that is one fan’s account, treat it as impressions rather than an official description, and check the official schedule for current ticketing.
Departures and change
Like any agency, Phase Connect has seen members leave. Siliconera reported on February 4, 2025 that Saya Sairroxs of the Euphoria generation would graduate on February 11, 2025 after just over a year, with her channel left online and the company saying she might still appear in some group activities. The agency’s own audition page says a next generation has no set date and is listed as “Soon.”
Why it matters for overseas readers
Phase Connect is an example of an English-language-first agency that still reaches Japanese audiences through a separate branch. The CEO has described Western and Japanese VTubing as having different marketing styles and different model expectations, with English-language models seen as more expressive. For comparison with the Japanese agencies on this site, see hololive production, NIJISANJI and VShojo.
