Who is Pokopea?
“Pokopea” is the fan name for two creators who often appear together. Inside Games describes Ponpoko as a 208-year-old tanuki ninja and Peanuts-kun as a five-year-old fairy who lives in Harajuku, and says Peanuts-kun started activity in 2017 and Ponpoko in 2018. KAI-YOU’s dictionary entry notes that Ponpoko began as a virtual YouTuber on February 1, 2018, as a spin-off of a character in the short anime that stars Peanuts-kun, and that the duo’s main base is Koka City in Shiga Prefecture. The same entry says the official standing of Peanuts-kun is that of a guest on Ponpoko’s channel, and that the two are real-life siblings; fans nonetheless treat them as a unit. Their main channel, Ponpoko Channel (the video above is from it), focuses on edited video rather than live streams. The duo also host a podcast, sell a fan book, and since 2024 have toured a live show called “Pokopea’s Circular Notice” (ぽこピーの回覧板), with a February 2026 date at Tokyo Garden Theater and a Hulu streaming release.
Ponpoko won the corporate/other category of Japan’s Yuru-Chara Grand Prix in 2020, according to KAI-YOU. They also run a VRChat world called Pokopea Land (ぽこピーランド). The planetarium video was made by the same team that built that world, Tanuki Mame Kensetsu (狸豆建設).
The planetarium show
According to the announcement post by Ponpoko on X, the program is a “new experience” using 360-degree dome video, with a 35-minute main feature described as an enjoyable theatrical version of Pokopea. KAI-YOU reports that Konica Minolta operates several planetariums in Tokyo and that NIJISANJI’s Nornis held an original planetarium program with the company in May 2025, which makes this a continuation of a pattern of VTuber-planetarium tie-ups rather than a first.
We could not find the show on Konica Minolta’s own program list when we checked. The venue’s page listed a set of other works instead, and it did not show the ticket price for this collaboration. For reference only, standard admission for ordinary planetarium programs at the venue starts around 1,600 yen for an adult when bought online, and live and special programs are priced separately (a general seat for a LIVE-type work is listed at 2,800 yen). Do not treat those figures as the price of this show.
The announcement of this event follows another recent Pokopea project: in September 2026 KAI-YOU recorded that the pair had been chosen after an open audition to appear in the Animersive live based on the film Belle. We covered that live in our report on the Belle “Animersive Live” in Tokyo.
Practical notes for overseas fans
- Tickets: the venue recommends buying online in advance and says same-day tickets are sold at the counter. The Japanese text of the site is the official version.
- Language: Konica Minolta’s English guide says English audio guides are provided for two other shows, not for this one, and nothing we found says the Pokopea film has English support. Expect Japanese-only narration unless the venue says otherwise.
- Access: the venue is about a three-minute walk from JR Yurakucho Station and about one minute from Ginza Station Exit C4. Photography and video are not allowed in the dome, and visitors cannot enter or leave once a show has begun.
- If you cannot travel: the simultaneous VRChat screening is the remote option, but the sources do not yet explain how to join, whether it is free, or at what times it runs. Follow the official X accounts for the details.
What we don’t know yet
- The ticket price and any limit on tickets per person
- The VRChat instance details: schedule, capacity and language
- Whether the showtimes quoted by media (hourly from 11:00 to 20:00) match the final schedule
- Whether any merchandise will be sold at the venue
