About World Virtual Research
World Virtual Research is an English-language guide to virtual culture, rooted in Japan and looking out to the world. We start with Japan’s VTubers, streamers, and utaite (online cover singers) and the industry around them, and explain who they are, how it all works, and how fans anywhere can follow, support, and buy from the creators they love.
Who runs this site
World Virtual Research is operated by PHG Co., Ltd. (株式会社PHG), a talent and creator agency in Japan that produces virtual media. Our agency operates under the name Studio PHG.

Because we work in this industry, we may have business relationships with some of the talents, creators, and companies that appear on this site. When that is the case, the page will say so clearly in a disclosure note. We aim to cover every entry by the same standards, whether or not we have a relationship with it.
What we publish
- Guides that help newcomers get started and help overseas fans navigate Japanese services.
- Profiles and references for talents, agencies, groups, songs, and events, organized with tags so you can browse by agency, genre, language, and more.
- Explainers about the culture and terminology of the scene.
How we write and review
Articles are published by the World Virtual Research Editorial Team. We use AI tools to help with research and drafting, and every article is checked by a named human reviewer (shown as “Reviewed by” on the page) before it is published. AI-assisted drafting does not replace that review.
Our editorial standards
- We cite our sources. Factual claims link to public sources, and pages show when they were last reviewed.
- We use public, official information. We rely on what talents, agencies, and official channels have said publicly.
- We do not speculate about private lives. We do not publish rumors, guesses, or claims about the real identities, health, relationships, or private information of the people behind virtual personas.
- We fix mistakes. If you see an error, tell us and we will review it promptly. Corrections are noted on the page when they matter.
Independence and trademarks
World Virtual Research is an independent, unofficial resource. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any agency, talent, or company we write about unless a page states otherwise. All names, characters, logos, and trademarks belong to their respective owners.
Some pages contain affiliate links. See our Affiliate & Advertising Disclosure for details.
