At a glance

  • Name: ChromaSHIFT (relaunched in June 2025; formerly operated as “idol”, run by IDOL VIRTUAL TALENTS LTD)
  • Type: English-language, multilingual VTuber agency based in the United States
  • Current operator: FTW Entertainment, an independent company that took the project over from Brave group US on 27 November 2025
  • Platform: mainly YouTube
  • Roster: 13 talents listed on the official site at the time of writing

ChromaSHIFT is one of the few VTuber agencies built outside Japan that has been owned, at different times, by an Israeli startup and a Japanese company. It began in 2022 as “idol”, a group created to bring VTubing to places with little local representation, grew a large English-speaking audience, and was then folded into the overseas network of the Japanese company Brave group before being spun into its own business. For readers used to the Japan-centered agencies, it is a useful case study in how the model travels abroad, and how fragile it can be.

History

According to Brave group’s December 2023 announcement, IDOL VIRTUAL TALENTS LTD was founded in October 2021 in Israel under CEO Aviel Basin, and its first talent generation debuted in March 2022. A separate Anime Corner report on the launch describes a debut on 10 May 2022 with five characters: Kattarina Qutie, Neo Sparkles, Lily Sin, Nikki Rei and Emi Suika. The two sources give different months, so we cite both; later Brave group and press material say the project “began” in May 2022. The same report says the founders wanted to reach countries where VTubing had little presence, that the audience was aimed at adults, and that the company offered legal and streaming support while intervening only lightly in creative decisions.

An English-speaking branch, idolEN, debuted in November 2022. A Delaware subsidiary was set up in May 2023, and Spanish-language auditions for what became idolES started in August 2023. In December 2023 the company reported about 1.3 million YouTube subscribers and 12 talents when it signed a business partnership with Brave group, the Tokyo operator that also runs VSPO.

That partnership became an acquisition. On 1 August 2024 Brave group announced that Brave group US Inc., its San Francisco-based wholly owned subsidiary, had taken over the business. Brave described it as its first integration of a non-Japanese VTuber agency, with merchandising and the North American market as stated priorities, and reported more than 1.8 million total YouTube subscribers for the project in a later release. Founder Aviel Basin stepped down as CEO. Independent VTuber news coverage from August 2024 noted that several talents departed around the transition, and that the planned third generation would be delayed to October.

That third generation, WILDFYRE (Cersea Soulstorm, Daisy Dandelion, Riki Poppet and Yena Youngblood), debuted on 19 October 2024 according to Brave group. Wiki-style fan databases report that the separate Hebrew, English and Spanish branches were merged under a single label in December 2024; we could not confirm that date in an official source.

The 2025 relaunch

On 18 to 19 June 2025 the project was relaunched as ChromaSHIFT, with a new website and the slogan “SHIFT Into The New World”. Brave group described a collective of 14 talents streaming in several languages, starting with English and Spanish. The relaunch was timed to OffKai Expo Gen4 in San Jose, California (20 to 22 June 2025), where Brave group said ChromaSHIFT would present its first 3D concert, “Supernova”, on 21 June, with 17 performers listed, plus a first panel, a merchandise booth and meet and greets. VTuber NewsDrop reported that the units were reshuffled after the concert into AKUPIN, OUTLAWS, RE:Belle and PRI♡MARI, with ENCORE unchanged. The official site frames the agency as a “solar system” of talent and says talent wellness is a priority.

Structure and ownership today

On 27 November 2025 Brave group announced that FTW Entertainment, founded by Hayashi, the former CEO of Brave group US, had taken over ChromaSHIFT, Oshi Live and a newly established project called NLiTE and would operate independently. Brave group said it keeps a shareholding in FTW and will keep working with it, supported through its investment arm Brave global capital, while Brave group US concentrates on the V4Mirai project. VTuber NewsDrop’s 2025 recap described the move as the result of a long restructuring of the Japanese group’s US business and also mentioned that some American talents were demonetized by YouTube at the start of 2025, a case where V4Mirai and idol publicly asked YouTube for a review. Details of the corporate terms are not public.

The official site currently lists 13 talents: Daisy Dandelion, Enya Ignis, Akugaki Koa, Shabel Tonya, Cersea Soulstorm, Yena Youngblood, Lalabell Lullaby, Riki Poppet, Taiga Toragami, Roca Rourin, Poko Rakun, Ruby Runeheart and Mia Melonya. A community-maintained database (Bācharu Toshokan) shows a differing and more recent unit layout, including a duo named Solfege (Enya Ignis and Shabel Tonya) renamed on 2 May 2026, and a talent audition window opened on 13 January 2026; these come from a fan wiki and we have not confirmed them with the agency.

What to watch

  • Content style: gaming, singing, dance covers, horror and cozy streams, with Halloween-themed videos featured on the site in October 2026.
  • Merchandise: the official site lists an “amiami (Oh-ami Inc.) x ChromaSHIFT” collaboration dated 22 July 2026, and a shop hosted on a Brave group US web domain. Only the headline is visible, so details are unknown.
  • Live events: the group has used US fan conventions such as OffKai Expo as its main stage. Watch the news page for new appearances.
  • Time zones: streams skew toward US and European hours, so many fall late at night or early morning in Japan time (JST is 16 hours ahead of Pacific daylight time in summer, 17 in winter).

Notes for overseas readers

ChromaSHIFT shows that a VTuber agency does not have to be Japanese to build a global audience, but it also shows how much the field depends on platform rules and corporate backing. Its operator changed twice in about four years (from the Israeli founding company to Brave group US, then to FTW), and the roster has shifted along the way, so it is wise to treat any roster list as a snapshot.
