At a glance

  • Re:AcT (read “React”) is a Tokyo-based VTuber talent agency operated by mikai Inc. (株式会社mikai).
  • It began in July 2018 under the name KAGAYAKI STARS and has used the Re:AcT name since late 2018.
  • Its identity is music-first: the official site organizes releases under music labels, with game streams and planning streams alongside.
  • Since November 2024 the operator has been part of the 17LIVE Group, the livestreaming company; a leadership change followed at the end of 2025.
  • As of the official talent page checked on 2026-10-28, 23 talents are listed: 20 active and 3 graduated.

What Re:AcT is

Re:AcT is one of the longer-running mid-sized VTuber agencies in Japan. A corporate-tie-up press release from 2023 described it as a music-centred agency with game and planning streams, built around the idea of starting a “Re:Action” in the virtual world, and said it then managed 21 female VTubers. The roster on the current official site is also made up of women, and the agency has run a women-only talent audition. For readers new to the term, a “VTuber agency” signs virtual performers who stream under an avatar, handling management, production, merchandise and sponsor work. Re:AcT leans toward the singing side of that work, which is why its talents are often described as virtual artists as well as streamers.

History

The operating company, mikai Inc., was founded on 31 August 2016 and first made its name with VR game development; Japanese coverage notes it was selected for the “Tokyo XR Startups” programme that year. It entered the VTuber business in July 2018 with an agency called KAGAYAKI STARS. According to community wiki records (not an official source, so treat the details as approximate), auditions were announced in May 2018 and the first members debuted that summer. The same wiki says the agency was renamed Re:AcT on 3 December 2018, broadening from an idol-style concept to a general talent agency.

The wiki also records that music labels were created in 2020 and reorganized in 2021, that a Twitch-focused women’s gaming project called Re:AcT Gaming was announced in 2023, and that a Korean-language branch, Re:AcT KR, was launched at the end of 2024. MoguLive reported on 26 November 2024 that Re:AcT KR was scheduled to begin on 30 November 2024 and would be the agency’s first overseas expansion. Whether the KR branch and Re:AcT Gaming are still operating in the same form is not clear from the current main talent page, which lists only the core roster.

The 17LIVE acquisition and 2025-2026 leadership

In late November 2024, 17LIVE Group Limited, the operator of the live-streaming platform 17LIVE, announced that it would acquire a majority of mikai’s shares and make it a group company. Real Sound reported that neither the price nor the exact ownership share was disclosed. 17LIVE already ran other VTuber production companies, and said mikai would continue its VTuber business as a company in its own right. Then-CEO Takahiro Kamimura said joining the group was the best route to growth in Japan and overseas.

On 29 December 2025, KAI-YOU reported that Kamimura would step down as executive producer and as head of mikai at the end of the year. Joji Kouda (香田譲二), 17LIVE’s chief investment officer, became representative director; Cross Wang of 17LIVE’s strategic management office became COO; and Kouhei Shiratori, from mikai itself, became Re:AcT’s producer. The current company page on mikai’s website lists Kouda as representative and describes the business as VTuber operations plus studio rental.

Labels and music

Re:AcT’s release page groups its music under named labels. ReAliz is associated with Leona Shishigami, Mia Mizugame and Rose Sumeragi (and the now-graduated Kyo Hanabasami); Kaleidscope with Hanabasami and Suu Usuwa among others; Sinkirow and Parfait with further soloists, including Aria Tsukushi. The listed releases date from 2021 to 2023 and include singles, albums and group tracks. The labels work as creative banners for releases rather than separate companies.

Music remains the centre of the 2026 news feed. The official news list shows new EP releases from Yumekawa Kanau (23 August), Kumori Anya (30 August), Lisa Makoh (6 September) and Anna Kannagi (13 September), plus a song for Suu Usuwa written by the creator Natori, scheduled for 31 July. On 2 October 2026 the agency also opened a call for vocal commissions: companies and individuals can ask Re:AcT to supply a singer for original songs, game or anime covers, doujin music and live appearances, and the agency says it can suggest a talent if the client has not chosen one.

Notable talents

  • Leona Shishigami (獅子神レオナ) – a flagship singer; Real Sound cited more than 330,000 YouTube subscribers in November 2024.
  • Kyo Hanabasami (花鋏キョウ) – another early headliner (over 320,000 subscribers in the same 2024 report); her graduation was announced on the official site on 23 July 2026, and her channel is now an archive.
  • Mia Mizugame, Kanau Yumekawa, Aria Tsukushi, Rose Sumeragi, Suu Usuwa, Lisa Makoh – active singers and streamers on the official roster.
  • Newer members such as Anya Kumori, Inori Suzuhana, Sora Otoha, Anna Kannagi, Iwo Shirazuna, Kagura Tomyoji and the unit kototo! appear on the same page.

Subscriber counts change constantly; check each channel for current numbers. We do not yet have individual talent pages for Re:AcT on this site.

Overseas activity

Re:AcT’s overseas reach comes mainly through YouTube, where its music is accessible without Japanese, and through the Korean branch announced in 2024. The agency’s parent group is Singapore-based 17LIVE Group, which gives it a route into the wider Asian streaming market. The official site is in Japanese; it publishes guidelines for fan letters, fan works and clip videos, which are worth reading before posting clips.

What to watch

  • How 17LIVE’s new management shapes the roster and its release schedule after the end-2025 change.
  • Whether the Korean branch and Re:AcT Gaming return to the main talent page or are reorganized.
  • The outcome of the vocal-commission call opened in October 2026, which could make Re:AcT talents more visible in game and doujin music.
  • Layla Sama’s hiatus, announced on 31 August 2026; the agency has not given details in the news list we reviewed.
