KAF (花譜)

KAF (花譜)

KAF (花譜, Kaf) is a virtual singer-songwriter who has been active since 2018 and was the first artist of KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO. She performs as a 3D-modeled avatar and has never shown her real face. Her studio describes her as a singer whose voice and worldview define her artist image, and she has grown from a YouTube cover singer into a headliner of arena-scale concerts in Japan, with growing appearances at anime festivals across Asia.

At a glance

  • Name: 花譜 (KAF, also written Kaf)
  • Type: Virtual singer (VSinger) and songwriter; avatar-based, face never revealed
  • Debut: 2018, at age 14, according to her official profile
  • Label/management: KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO (see our KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO agency page)
  • Main platforms: YouTube, plus TikTok, Instagram, bilibili and piapro
  • Language: Japanese; an English-language information account also exists
  • Status as of 2026-10-28: Active

Character

KAF is not presented as a character with a fictional backstory in the way many agency VTubers are. The official biography instead frames her as a young singer whose appeal lies in her voice and the world her songs build, and who aims to blur the line between the virtual and the real while serving as a model for next-generation artists. Her avatar was designed by the illustrator Palow, according to Wikipedia. The official site does not state her birthday, so we do not list one.

What the content looks like

KAF is primarily a music act rather than a variety streamer. Her YouTube channel is built around original music videos that carry running numbers in their titles (for example “#158” for a 2026 release), alongside live recordings, cover streams and special broadcasts. The official site embeds dozens of her music videos, covering everything from her first original song to singles released in 2026. Her fans often follow her through albums, one-man concerts and collaboration series rather than daily streams.

She also runs a membership channel, a radio-style presence (a programme on InterFM was announced in 2022, per Wikipedia), and a separate singer-songwriter project called KAIKA (廻花) with its own official site.

Milestones

The early timeline below comes mostly from Wikipedia, which cites Japanese music press such as Real Sound and Billboard Japan. Dates after 2024 come from her official site.

  • 2018: Her YouTube channel opened in October, and her first original song, “Ito” (糸), followed on December 6, 2018. She made a live debut at a VR event on December 31 of that year.
  • 2019: After a short break for school entrance exams she returned in March with “Hinadori” and released her first EP. A crowdfunding campaign for her first one-man live reportedly raised over 40 million yen. The first full album, Kansoku (観測), arrived in September.
  • 2020: “Answer” (アンサー) was used as an ending theme of the anime Black Clover, and she released the album Mahou (魔法). She collaborated with Kizuna AI on “Karisome”, according to Wikipedia.
  • 2021: She became a member of the virtual group V.W.P (Virtual Witch Phenomenon), and a CeVIO AI voicebank based on her voice, KAFU, was released.
  • 2022: Her “Fukakai 3” concert at Nippon Budokan was described as the first for a VTuber at that venue, and she was named to the Forbes Japan 30 Under 30 list. A song with the band Maisondes became the ending theme of the 2022 Urusei Yatsura anime.
  • 2024: She launched the KAIKA project at a one-man live at Yoyogi National Gymnasium in January, passed one million YouTube subscribers in June, and released her fourth album Guuwa (寓話) on December 25.
  • 2025: Releases included “My Life” (January 29) and, per her official discography, “EAT THE PAST” (June 11) and “Utte” (撃って, June 25). She performed at AFAID25 in Jakarta and at a mixed-reality event in Los Angeles, according to Wikipedia.

Music

KAF’s songs are written together with a rotating group of producers. Her first three albums were composed largely by the producer Iori Kanzaki, and from 2024 she has worked with a wider range of writers. Her ongoing “Kumikyoku” (組曲, “Suite”) series pairs her with other artists. Collaborators have included Kizuna AI, Glim Spanky, Shigeru Kishida, Moe Shop and Hoshimachi Suisei, whose collaboration came out on November 27, 2024 according to Wikipedia. Hoshimachi Suisei has her own page on this site: Hoshimachi Suisei, as does Kizuna AI.

2026 activity

2026 has been a busy year for KAF, built around her fifth album and her seventh anniversary.

  • February 25: The song “Shuuhasuu 0 no Aikotoba” (周波数0の合言葉) was released ahead of the album, and an exhibition titled “Miracles Are Continuous: Our Current Position, KAF Exhibition 5” opened (running March 20 to April 5 according to her official site).
  • February 28 and March 1: KAMITSUBAKI WARS 2026 took place at Pia Arena MM in Yokohama. Her fifth one-man live, “Yadogoe / Shinai” (宿声 / 深愛), headlined the second day. The concert films became available on the d Anime Store service from June 1, according to a press release.
  • April: “Error Song” (エラーソング, April 1) and “Houkago Borderline” (放課後ボーダーライン, April 29, a Suite 2 collaboration with Shinsei Kamattechan) were released.
  • May 27: The fifth album Shinai (深愛, “Deep Love”) was released with 15 tracks. It is paired with a novel, Camus no Utadori, written by Ayaka Nakamura and published by KADOKAWA, so that songs and story can be experienced together.
  • May 30-31: She appeared at a Hong Kong show and at Anime Festival Asia Thailand 2026.
  • July 26: OffKai Expo 2026.
  • September: A single, “BLUE SIGNAL”, was released on September 7, and a second fifth-concert edition, “Yadogoe / Shinai (Meguri)”, was held on September 6 at KAMITSUBAKI WARS 2026 in Pacifico Yokohama.
  • October 2: A collaboration event with the food brand Kome to Circus was announced.

A Blu-ray of the fifth one-man live was announced on July 31.

Upcoming

  • November 1, 2026: NIGHT HIKE 2026 in Makuhari (Makuhari Messe), Day 2.
  • November 27-29, 2026: Anime Festival Asia Singapore at Suntec Singapore, with KAF and Isekai Joucho (ヰ世界情緒). Singapore time is one hour behind Japan.
  • January 24, 2027: KIMCHIKURA x ANISAMA SEOUL 2027 is listed on her official site.

Collaborations and related talents

KAF belongs to the KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO family, which also includes Rim (理芽), Harusaruhi (春猿火), Isekai Joucho (ヰ世界情緒) and Coko (幸祜). Together with four of them she forms V.W.P, which entered a “charging” hiatus after March 2026, per the d Anime Store release. See also the studio overview on our agency page.
