Hoshimachi Suisei is a virtual idol and singer-songwriter who has become one of the most successful music acts to come out of the VTuber scene. She debuted on March 22, 2018 and belongs to hololive production’s Generation 0. In 2026 she set up a personal agency, Studio STELLAR, to handle her solo career while she remains part of hololive for group activities. This profile covers her character, her music, the records she holds, and where to start.

At a glance

  • Agency: hololive production (COVER Corporation) for group activities; Studio STELLAR for solo activities (from March 2026)
  • Debut: March 22, 2018
  • Main platform and language: YouTube, in Japanese
  • Fan name: Hoshiyomi
  • Known for: original songs, large live concerts, and Tetris streams
  • Stated dream: to perform at the Tokyo Dome (hololive official profile)

Character

hololive’s official bio describes a virtual idol with a strong love for songs and idols. Her streams mix singing, games and talk. Wikipedia notes she is known for her Tetris skills.

Career in brief

According to Wikipedia, Suisei created her YouTube channel on March 18, 2018 and posted her first video on March 22. She joined hololive production on May 19, 2019 through its music label INoNaKa Music, and moved to the main hololive branch on December 1, 2019. She reached 1 million subscribers on June 26, 2021, and 2 million on September 27, 2023. Wikipedia’s page lists about 2.91 million subscribers as of September 2026.

Music: why she stands out

Music is the center of her career, and her chart record is unusual for a VTuber. Wikipedia lists these highlights:

  • “Ghost” (April 13, 2021): No. 1 on Oricon’s daily digital singles ranking on its release day.
  • Albums: *Still Still Stellar* (September 2021, peaked at No. 6 in Japan), *Specter* (January 2023, No. 4) and *Shinsei Mokuroku* (January 2025, No. 3, 50,192 sales).
  • THE FIRST TAKE (January 20, 2023): she was the first VTuber to perform on the popular one-take music channel, with 160,000 concurrent viewers, a record for that channel according to Wikipedia.
  • “BIBBIDIBA” (2024): a platinum-certified streaming hit whose music video passed 100 million views in November 2024.
  • “I Don’t Care” (2025): No. 1 on Japan’s digital and download charts, with 39,854 digital sales.

Two videos show why she is a good first listen:

“BIBBIDIBA”: official music video, from Suisei’s official channel
“Stellar Stellar”: THE FIRST TAKE, from the THE FIRST TAKE channel

“BIBBIDIBA” was released on March 22, 2024, with lyrics, composition and arrangement by Tsumiki and a video by the production unit Mimicry Meta, according to Dengeki Online. The same article says it reached 100 million views on November 15, 2024, just under eight months after release. Wikipedia says its video reached 10 million views on April 7, 2024, the fastest for a VTuber video.

Live performances

Suisei’s live shows have grown from small venues to arenas:

  • October 21, 2021: “STELLAR into the GALAXY,” her first paid concert, at Toyosu PIT.
  • November to December 2024: the “Spectra of Nova” tour, including Saitama Super Arena.
  • February 2025: “SuperNova” at Nippon Budokan.
  • February 21, 2026: “SuperNova: REBOOT” at K-Arena Yokohama, a re-staging of the Budokan show. In a January 2026 interview with Real Sound, she said that the re-staging would remove the limits of the original venue and expand the world of that show.

Studio STELLAR and her 2026 plans

On March 22, 2026, following her 8th anniversary celebrations, she announced a personal agency named Studio STELLAR. AniTrendz reports that the studio handles her solo music releases, streaming, merchandise and fan club operations, while COVER continues to manage her group activities, collaborations and selected hololive events. NERD Inc. handles talent management for the studio and works with COVER, which disclosed an investment in NERD Inc.

Her 2026 releases and plans include:

  • “GUM & DROP” (August 31, 2026): a digital single co-written in Los Angeles with local songwriters and producers, produced by Taku Inoue, according to KAI-YOU. Suisei said it is the first song made under her new setup.
  • “Primadonna”: a single announced in March 2026 with lyrics and composition by SHOW.
  • Arena tour “Once Upon a Stellar”: announced in March 2026, with dates at K Arena Yokohama (September 8 and 9), GLION ARENA KOBE (October 21), IG Arena in Aichi (November 7) and Marine Messe Fukuoka Hall A (November 12). Check her official site for current ticket and venue information.
  • “Chatter Chatter” (2026): a duet with Houshou Marine.
  • A Fortnite collaboration (March 12, 2026) with a playable skin.

What she says about her own goals

In a January 2026 Real Sound interview, Suisei used her own measure, a “Japan conquest rate,” to describe how far she thinks she has reached in Japan: 20% in 2023, 39% in 2024 and 42% in 2025. She said she wants to pass 50% in 2026, and framed the slow rise as a sign that the VTuber scene is looking for its next growth trigger. This is her own subjective measure, not an official statistic.

Awards and recognition

  • 2024: won Best Music VTuber at The Vtuber Awards, and a NexTone Award (Special).
  • 2025: named to Forbes Japan’s 30 Under 30.
  • Her “BIBBIDIBA” video won a bronze award in the Clio Music awards, according to KAI-YOU.

Where to start

  • Music first: play the two videos above, then try the album *Shinsei Mokuroku* and her 2025 and 2026 singles.
  • Live performance: look for the official releases of her concerts such as “SuperNova,” on the official site.
  • Streams: her game and talk archives are in Japanese. Her Tetris streams are a good fit if you do not follow the language, because the action is easy to follow.
