SasaLive: Free Browser Streaming Tool for VRChat and VTubers

A new free tool called SasaLive (Sasatto Live in Japanese, roughly “quick live”) launched on October 17, 2026. It runs entirely in a web browser and lets VTubers and VRChat users build a layered stream scene, then send it to a VRChat video player or to YouTube without installing OBS. Japanese outlet MoguLive covered it on October 20.

At a glance

  • What: a browser-based streaming and scene-building tool, operated by the individual developer group NoxelLab (creator name Noxel).
  • Released: October 17, 2026, according to MoguLive.
  • Price and sign-in: free, with all features included and no account or login required, according to the official site and MoguLive.
  • Where it works: MoguLive lists a PC browser as the supported environment.
  • Languages: the official pages are offered in Japanese and English.

What it does

SasaLive lets you stack several sources into one video: a full screen, a single window or browser tab, a camera, video files, images, PDFs and VRM avatars (VRM is a common file format for 3D VTuber models). Each item sits on its own layer, so you can reorder them and adjust settings individually. Avatars support lip sync and face tracking, according to MoguLive.

On top of that you can add text, tickers, captions, timers and a roulette widget, switch between multiple scenes, and play background music and sound effects. Caption speech recognition and translation run on your own device rather than on a server. The official page also says a phone camera can be connected over an encrypted link.

How streaming works

Video and audio are encoded in your browser. A relay server then passes the stream on to viewers and, according to the developer, does not store it. Every stream receives its own viewing URL, and viewers receive it over RTSP or HLS, two common live-streaming protocols. Pasting the issued URL into a VRChat video player lets people in a world watch your screen. Alternatively, you can paste a stream key from YouTube Studio to broadcast to your own YouTube channel; titles and privacy settings are then managed in YouTube Studio.

Recording is also possible, whether or not you are live. The official page notes that starting a stream involves a bot check from Cloudflare Turnstile.

Why overseas VRChat users may care

Sharing a screen in a world, for a watch party, a presentation or a small event, usually means setting up streaming software and a server first. A tool that runs in a tab and hands you a link lowers that barrier. Our guide to attending a VRChat VTuber concert from abroad explains how Japanese VRChat events are usually organized, and a tool like this is the kind of thing smaller community events could use.

VRChat’s own video players are picky about protocols, however. A VRChat feedback request, last marked “available in future release” on July 27, 2026, notes that Quest (standalone headset) users could only open rtsp:// addresses, while PC users sometimes need the TCP variant rtspt://. A community forum thread from 2025 also describes streams that play for some people but not others. Because SasaLive uses RTSP or HLS, whether a given world’s player accepts the link is something to test before an event, on both PC and Quest if you expect both.

Privacy and limits stated by the developer

  • No accounts or personal information are collected; layouts, files and your YouTube stream key stay in your browser.
  • Stream records are deleted 30 days after a stream expires, and starting a new stream from the same browser ends the previous one.
  • Hosting and bot protection use Cloudflare, and YouTube streaming involves Google. The service is provided as-is and may be changed, suspended or ended by the operator.
  • Users are responsible for their stream content; infringing, illegal or impersonating content is prohibited. The terms follow Japanese law.

What we don’t know yet

  • No setup steps for VRChat are given on the official pages beyond pasting the URL, and we have not tested it ourselves.
  • The pages do not say which VRChat worlds or video players work best, or how many viewers a single stream supports.
  • Support for browsers other than PC is unclear, and no list of caption or translation languages is published.
  • As an individually run free service, its long-term availability is not guaranteed.

The video above is a general, third-party explainer on VRChat video players, not made by SasaLive’s developer.
