Ninomae Ina’nis (一伊那尓栖) is an English-speaking virtual YouTuber from hololive English, the overseas branch of hololive production. She debuted on September 13, 2020 as a member of the branch’s first generation, hololive -Myth-, and is one of its best-known artists, singers and streamers. Her persona is a priestess of the Ancient Ones who found a strange book and gained the power to control tentacles, which she insists on keeping dressed up and pretty.

Character

The official hololive profile describes Ina’nis as a priestess of the Ancient Ones. After finding a strange book she gained control over tentacles, which she treats as an ordinary part of life while wanting to keep them stylishly dressed. Having started hearing “Ancient Whispers and Revelations”, she says she began her VTuber activities to deliver “random sanity checks” to humanity. The fan name “Tentacult” and the stream tag “TAKOTIME” play on “tako”, the Japanese word for octopus. The video above is the music video for “THIS IS MYTH”, the original single listed first on her official profile.

What the content looks like

Ina’nis is widely recognized as an artist as well as a streamer: in 2023 she won Best Art VTuber at the VTuber Awards, and Wikipedia notes that she was nominated in the same category in 2024. Her fans have also organized large birthday projects: in May 2021 they sponsored a 60-second birthday tribute on a Times Square billboard, and in 2022 they assembled a 342-page artbook, according to Wikipedia. She also appears as a character in the fan-made fighting game Idol Showdown, where she recorded most of her own lines.
