How to read a hololive talent profile: generations, fan names and hashtags
Last reviewed: October 22, 2026
Every hololive production talent has an official profile page, and the fields on it are a handy map of how the fandom works. If you are new, words like “stream tag,” “fan name” and “generation” can look like jargon. This guide uses three official profiles as examples: Mori Calliope, Tsunomaki Watame and Shirakami Fubuki.
The fields, one by one
- Birthday. Listed as month and day only. Calliope’s is April 4, Watame’s is June 6 and Fubuki’s is October 5.
- Debut stream. The date of the first official stream: September 12, 2020 for Calliope, December 29, 2019 for Watame and June 1, 2018 for Fubuki. Fans usually celebrate this date as the talent’s anniversary.
- Generation or unit. Watame is listed as hololive 4th Generation and Fubuki as hololive 1st Generation and hololive GAMERS, while Calliope is listed under the unit hololive -Myth- with no generation shown. The groupings tell you who debuted together.
- Fan name. What the fans call themselves: Dead Beats (Calliope), Watamates (Watame) and Sukonbu (Fubuki).
- Hashtags. Usually split into a stream tag for live chat and social posts, a fan-art tag, and sometimes a clips tag.
- Illustrator. The artist or artists credited for the character design; Watame’s profile credits two Live2D designers.
- Official links. The talent’s YouTube channel and X account, which are the first places to check for schedules.
Hashtags in practice
Using the right tag helps other fans find your posts. Calliope uses #calliolive for streams and #callillust for fan art. Watame’s profile lists a stream tag, a fan-art tag (#つのまきあーと) and a clips tag (#わたわた動画). Fubuki’s lists #フブキCh for streams and #絵フブキ for fan art. Always follow the agency’s fan-content rules when you post.
Three more profiles: same layout, different data
The fields above are not filled in the same way on every page, which is itself useful to know. Three further official profiles show the range:
- Gigi Murin (hololive English -Justice-): birthday October 18, debut stream June 22, 2024. The page lists her unit but no generation, no fan name and no official hashtag list; hashtags such as #holoJustice appear only in her video titles. The illustrator credited is Makihitsuji.
- Hoshimachi Suisei (hololive generation 0): the page gives March 22, 2018 as her debut date, which is also her birthday, and does not describe a “debut stream” the way other profiles do. Her fan name is Hoshiyomi, her stream tag is #ほしまちすたじお and her fan-art tag is #ほしまちぎゃりー; no clips tag or illustrator is listed.
- Airani Iofifteen (hololive Indonesia, unit hololive AREA15): birthday July 15, debut stream April 12, 2020. The page lists a unit but no generation, the fan name IOFORIA, and several tags: #ioLYFE for streams, #ioarts for fan art and #iomemes for memes. The illustrator credited is Yano Mituki.
The pattern is consistent enough to learn from. A debut date can be a full stream date or just a calendar date, a talent can have a unit without a generation (or the reverse), and a clips or meme tag exists only where the community uses one. When a field is missing, that usually means the page does not list it, not that the information does not exist, so check the talent’s channel before assuming.
Using the fields to plan
- Want to cheer on a debut anniversary? Mark the debut date, then check whether the talent has announced an anniversary stream.
- Want to post fan art? Use the fan-art tag from the profile and follow the agency’s fan-content rules.
- Want to find clips? Look for a clips tag; where none is listed, search the stream tag instead.
- Want to learn who debuted together? Use the generation or unit field, remembering that some profiles list only one of them.
Why the debut date matters
The “Debut stream” field is the easiest way to work out a talent’s anniversary. Several of our talent pages store that month and day so the site can feature the anniversary on the home page. If you want to understand how the wider organization fits together, our hololive production page covers the structure.
A quick example
Watame: hololive 4th Generation, debut stream December 29, 2019, fan name Watamates, singing focus. In one line you know when she started, who she debuted alongside and what to call yourself in her chat.
Common questions
Does the profile list every unit a talent belongs to? Not necessarily. Calliope’s page shows her -Myth- unit but no generation, so use it as a starting point rather than a complete family tree.
Where do I find the official links? At the bottom of each profile page. Each talent page on this site also has an “Official links” section.
