Character
ILUNA is built around a shared setting, the ILUNA Institute of the Mystics, and each member is introduced as a student there. Ren Zotto is a third-year, which is the highest year among the six members. The official description calls him a deadly prince from another world who intends to conquer Earth, and the tool he plans to use is sound: his music and his voice.
The ILUNA debut
NIJISANJI EN announced ILUNA as a group of six: Kyo Kaneko, Maria Marionette, Aster Arcadia, Aia Amare, Ren Zotto and Scarle Yonaguni. Each member has a short concept tied to the institute. Kyo Kaneko is a cheerful first-year, Maria Marionette is a doll who became human, Aster Arcadia is a celestial being born from a supernova, Aia Amare is an angelic maiden who came to observe humankind, Ren Zotto is the alien prince, and Scarle Yonaguni is an elegant enchantress with a scarlet staff.
The members first appeared in their own debut streams, and then joined the group programme “Cosmic encounter with ILUNA,” hosted by Selen Tatsuki and Alban Knox on the NIJISANJI English YouTube channel. The programme aired on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. PDT, which was Monday, July 25 at 9:00 a.m. JST. The group’s debut song, “Let’s Get It Started,” was produced by MATZ, with lyrics and music by MATZ and BBY NABE and arrangement by MATZ and Shion Miyazaki. Its music video was set to premiere the same day at 9:00 p.m. PDT (1:00 p.m. JST on July 25).
Music
Ren Zotto is best known for his original song “Blue Sugar.” When VTuber News Drop reported on his first overseas event in February 2023, the music video had already passed four million views. That figure was a snapshot at the time and will have changed, so check the video page for the current count. The same report describes him as someone who interacts with other VTubers and personalities regardless of their affiliation.

Reading the dates
NIJISANJI EN announces most events in Pacific time with Japan time alongside, so the debut programme above is a good example: 5:00 p.m. PDT on Sunday was 9:00 a.m. JST on Monday. Event announcements in Asia, such as the Singapore stage, are given in local time. When you plan to watch anything live, convert from the time zone in the original announcement. Our buying guide covers ordering goods from abroad, which also depends on local time for sales windows.
Where to start
The ILUNA debut programme is the natural first watch, because it introduces all six members in one place. After that, the “Blue Sugar” music video is the quickest way to hear what his concept sounds like, and his channel is linked below for regular streams.
