Hololive Mahjong -Holojan- Announced: 37 Talents, Pre-Registration Open and What Overseas Fans Should Know
COVER Corporation and Aiming Inc. have announced Hololive Mahjong -Holojan- (ホロライブ麻雀 -ホロじゃん-), the first mahjong game built around hololive production talents. Pre-registration opened on October 9, 2026, and the companies say the game is planned for release in 2026. For overseas fans the headline is a mix of good and cautious news: the pre-registration campaign and the official channels are open to everyone who can see them, but the early-play event requires residency in Japan, and the official pages do not yet say which regions the final game will launch in.
At a glance
- Game: ホロライブ麻雀 -ホロじゃん- (Hololive Mahjong -Holojan-; the official site also writes the title as Holo-Jong)
- Developer and publisher: Aiming Inc. in collaboration with COVER Corporation
- Talents: 37 hololive production talents take part
- Platforms: iOS, Android, Windows and browser
- Price: free to play with in-app purchases
- Release: “planned for 2026”; no exact date has been announced
- Pre-registration: open since October 9, 2026, through the App Store, Google Play or by following the official X account
- Official site: holo-jong.com
What the game is
The official tagline describes a “mahjong game to enjoy with your oshi” (a favorite talent), with the catchphrase “your next oshi-katsu is mahjong”. Players face hololive talents in online matches on smartphone, PC or browser, and a single-player mode is also listed. COVER says the game features newly recorded voices, in-match stamps for communicating with opponents, and a beginner assist function. A Japanese-language game-introduction video for beginners released on October 11 shows the assist in action: it highlights possible scoring combinations in the player’s hand and suggests which tile to discard, and a game-record function lets players review a finished hand, according to a hands-on news report on the PV. The same report lists four modes: ranked match, tournament, solo play and friend match, and says riichi can be customized with an animation and a riichi stick.
The official sites do not say which rule set the game uses beyond what the screens show, and they do not list in-game languages. The official site is in Japanese, and the Japanese App Store listing is the only store listing we saw referenced.
Pre-registration rewards
The pre-registration campaign works as a milestone ladder. At 100,000 registrations, the game unlocks a social-media icon and a table skin themed on hololive Generations 0 to 2 and hololive GAMERS. At 200,000 it adds an icon and a table skin for Generations 3 to 5, and at 300,000 an icon and a skin for holoX, ReGLOSS and FLOW GLOW. Everyone who pre-registers is promised an in-game item at launch. A separate prize draw for a mahjong-magazine-style notebook is open to followers of @hololivemahjong who repost the campaign post, but the official campaign page states that physical goods are shipped only within Japan, so overseas followers should not expect to receive the notebook. The campaign page also says rewards and timing may change without notice and that the publisher will not answer questions about the release date.
The 37 talents and the launch stream
Thirty-seven talents from across hololive production are participating, and the official site lists many of them, including Usada Pekora and Houshou Marine; Shirakami Fubuki is part of the launch-stream cast. A separate notice on the official site about how talents are handled in the game was published on October 9, but we could not read its details.
To launch the project, hololive scheduled a special stream on October 13 at 20:00 JST titled “[New discovery!] Unraveling the mystery of Paigenkyo (牌源郷)”. The announced cast was Robocosan, Shirakami Fubuki, Ookami Mio and Houshou Marine. The listing described it as a game introduction with variety segments; we have not verified what was shown on air.
Programs for streamers and creators
The official site announces two programs that matter to the fan community. The first is an influencer early-play event, with applications accepted from October 9 to October 30 at 23:59 and the play period running from November 12 at 12:00 to November 20 at 18:00 JST. Applicants need a channel with at least 3,000 subscribers or an X account with at least 10,000 followers. The rules page states that applicants must live in Japan, must be 12 or older, and need a Windows PC, so overseas streamers are not eligible. Results are notified between November 5 and 11, and play data will be reset at the official launch.
The second is the Certified Creator program, with applications open until December 31, 2026 at 23:59, a review period in January 2027 and results on February 1, 2027. It has a video-creator division and an artist division. The program page does not state any residence requirement, but the page itself, the required hashtags (#ホロじゃん and #PR) and the title keywords are in Japanese. Video creators need at least 3,000 YouTube subscribers and a minimum number of Holojan videos per month; artists may not use traced official art or AI-generated images. Benefits for approved creators are in-game currency, badges, a creator-only tile skin and listings on the website, with higher ranks receiving more.
Why it matters
The beginner-focused marketing suggests the target is hololive fans who have never played mahjong rather than existing mahjong enthusiasts, which is also the audience most likely to include overseas viewers.
What we don’t know yet
- The exact release date and the regions where the game will be offered; a Japanese App Store listing reportedly shows December 11, 2026, but neither company has confirmed that as the launch date
- In-game language options, and whether overseas App Store or Google Play accounts can install it
- The full rule set, including how scoring and red tiles are handled
- Whether the pre-registration goals have been reached; the official page does not show a live count
- Details of the talent-handling notice published on October 9
