VTuber agency PROJECT NEBULA to end operations in February 2027

On October 15, 2026, the VTuber agency PROJECT NEBULA (nicknamed “Puronebu” (ぷろねぶ) by fans) announced on its official X account that it will end its operations as an agency on February 28, 2027. Its talents will carry on as individuals from March 1, 2027. The Japanese outlet MoguLive reported the news on October 16.

At a glance

  • Announced: October 15, 2026, on the agency’s official X account.
  • Agency operations end: February 28, 2027.
  • Talents continue as individuals from: March 1, 2027.
  • Channels and archives: YouTube, Twitch and X accounts are unchanged, and existing videos and archives stay online, according to the report.
  • Official shop: remaining stock on the agency’s Booth shop stops selling on March 31, 2027; orders already placed will still be fulfilled.

The timeline until the end

The announcement includes a short list of events that are still planned before the agency closes. According to MoguLive, a first collaboration café is scheduled for December 2026 in Tokyo, and a final solo event is planned for January 31, 2027, at a venue in the Bunkyo area of Tokyo. After February 28, 2027, the agency itself will no longer operate.

One change affects viewers waiting for new faces: the debut of new members selected through the agency’s audition has been cancelled.

What happens to the talents

The agency says it discussed future activities and its management structure with its talents and reached the decision after weighing everything together. The report gives no further detail about the reasons.

During a livestream on October 15, three talents, named in the report in Japanese as 碁氷ゆら, 菜鳥ひなた and 紫雨るか (their X handles romanize them as Usui Yura, Natori Hinata and Shigure Ruka), said they would like to keep collaborating about once a month as individuals. Their channels are not changing, so existing subscribers should not need to do anything. Arrangements for other sites and services will be discussed and announced later.

Who is on the roster

MoguLive does not state how many talents the agency has. The agency’s official talent page is linked below, and the talents’ own X profiles, which carry an “@ぷろねぶ” suffix, show at least four members: Usui Yura, Natori Hinata, Shigure Ruka and Suzuri Ren (鈴莉れん), who introduced herself as a newcomer belonging to PROJECT NEBULA in a post on her X account. The report quotes only the first three, so we cannot say what Suzuri Ren or any other member plans to do after March 2027.

Context: how other small agencies have closed

PROJECT NEBULA is not the first small VTuber agency to wind down, and the way it is doing so differs from some earlier cases. In December 2024, the agency NEXAS, which managed 51 talents streaming on the AniLive app, announced it would stop operating on January 31, 2025, saying it could not achieve the sustainable model it had envisioned; it offered each talent the option to keep the rights to their avatar and take over their accounts. In November 2023, the Spanish-language agency Sedai One announced it would suspend its activities indefinitely and removed its pages, with active talents’ futures to be announced individually.

By comparison, PROJECT NEBULA gave a long runway (about four and a half months from announcement to closing), a calendar of final events, and explicit statements about channels, archives and merchandise. That is a description of what was announced, not a judgement about the reasons, which the agency has not detailed.

What we don’t know yet

  • The detailed reasons behind the closure.
  • Whether every talent will continue as an individual, since the report quotes only three.
  • How merchandise, other platforms and contracts for other services will be handled after March 2027.

For overseas fans, the practical advice is simple: follow the official X account and the individual talents’ channels, since further details are promised there. Our guide to buying official VTuber merch from Japan may help if you want to pick up goods before the shop closes its remaining stock on March 31, 2027.
